Practice Skills for Facilitating Social Work Groups Online: An Interactive Workshop and Discussion of Learnings from an Online AFFIRM Group

The Ontario Groupwork Chapter (OGC) of IASWG and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) invite you to join us for this online interactive workshop. AFFIRM is an 8-session evidence-based affirmative CBT group for LGBTQ2S+ adolescents and adults developed, implemented and evaluated by Dr. Shelley Craig, PhD, Principal Investigator (PI).  

In March 2020, the AFFIRM team responded quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic by moving the current groups online within a week of in-person session closures. Online AFFIRM groups have continued since this time, with positive preliminary research results collected from participants. This workshop will discuss the risks and benefits of offering online groups, online group norms, facilitating process and content online, preliminary research findings from online groups, as well as a case study and composite of an online group. There will be time for participants and presenters to discuss issues and questions you may have about moving your group practice online.
