Among the many challenges of growing older in western societies is the struggle against loneliness and isolation. In this presentation, participants will learn about a group for elderly residents of a subsidized housing facility in Asheville, North Carolina, US. A model of group facilitation is demonstrated which encourages safety, sharing of vulnerability, interpersonal connection, and mutual aid.
