January Virtual Event: Using Photovoice in Group Work

(OPEN TO ALL IASWG MEMBERS) - Dr. Jen Currin-McCulloch will make a presentation and lead an interactive discussion on the use of photography combined with the member's voice in group work (photo voice methodology). She will discuss this methodology which she uses in groups to help young adults who have cancer. She has just received the prestigious SPARC grant award from IASWG to further her practice and research in this area. Jen, who received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, School of Social Work, is an assistant professor at Colorado State University, a member of our chapter and an experienced social group worker who has worked in the area of cancer and palliative care for 20 years. If you can, bring a photograph to share with the participants which expresses your experience during this Covid19 Pandemic year. 

November Virtual Event: Diversity in Groups

(OPEN TO ALL IASWG MEMBERS) - We are having a special presentation on Diversity in Groups by our own IASWG member Dr. Ken Saldanha. Ken is a popular Associate Professor of Social Work at Eastern Michigan University where he teaches courses in group work and racial relations. He holds a doctorate from the University of Toronto and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Mumbai. We are very excited about this meeting and everyone from IASWG is invited to attend from 7PM to 8PM.
