Support for Our Colleagues in the Ukraine

With gratitude for the work of our colleagues in Lithuania, we send this message to group workers in support of Ukraine. 

Dear Group Work Colleagues,

We are currently witnessing events that we hoped were unimaginable. On February 24, Russian President Putin launched military action in the sovereign and democratic state of Ukraine. This despotic behavior runs counter to the core values represented by social workers and group workers. We are witnessing the beginning of a major humanitarian crisis, where many civilians are being injured or killed, with even more losing their homes and with thousands being forced to become refugees.

Ukrainian soldiers and civilians are fighting heroically, attempting to repel the Russian army’s attack. They are fighting not only for their country, but also for their belief in democracy. They need our support.

As group workers we have knowledge and expertise on how to build communities, and to push for change and social justice. We therefore call on you to unite, and to put pressure on the governments of your countries to impose the most severe sanctions on the President's Putin regime.

Social workers also have knowledge and skills to help those who are facing crises and have been traumatized. Please provide whatever support you can offer for Ukrainian war refugees. For example, find out how you can provide financial support to organizations providing help to war victims in Ukraine.

And lastly, please keep the people in the Ukraine in your thoughts and prayers.

A Ukrainian social work colleague of Mark Doel offered this information:

If you would like to support the aid effort in the Ukraine, three organizations have stood the test of time on this conflict and have really promised to be there through thick and thin. Please consider supporting one of them:

• Right to Protection, a Ukrainian non-profit, with national reach and a long history of helping those impacted by conflict. Their website and much of the Ukrainian internet seems to be down at the moment, but you can connect with them via LinkedIn.
• The Norwegian Refugee Council, one of the larger international NGOs on the ground in the hardest to reach places.
• The International Committee of the Red Cross, who also works with the local Red Cross national societies in an impartial and neutral manner to ensure all who need help under horrible conditions receive it.

P.S. Don't send stuff, send money, aid workers can buy stuff if needed or give cash to those in need.

Queridos y queridas compañeros/as de trabajo con grupos, 

Estamos siendo testigos de acontecimientos que no queríamos ni imaginar El 24 de febrero, el presidente ruso Putin lanzó una acción militar en Ucrania, un estado soberano y democrático. Este comportamiento despótico va en contra de los valores fundamentales que representan los trabajadores sociales y facilitadores de grupo. Estamos asistiendo al inicio de una gran crisis humanitaria, en la que muchas personas están muriendo o siendo heridas mientras muchas otras están perdiendo sus hogares o siendo obligadas a convertirse en refugiadas. 

Soldados y civiles ucranianos están luchando heroicamente, intentando repeler el ataque del ejército ruso. Están luchando no sólo por su país, sino también por su creencia en la democracia.  Necesitan nuestro apoyo. 

Como trabajadoras de grupo, tenemos conocimientos y experiencia en la construcción de comunidades y en el impulso de la transformación y  justicia social. Por lo tanto, les pedimos que se unan y presionen a los gobiernos de sus países para que impongan las sanciones más severas al régimen del presidente Putin.  

Los trabajadores sociales también tienen conocimientos y habilidades para ayudar a los que se enfrentan a las crisis y han sido traumatizados. Por favor, ofrezcan todo el apoyo que puedan a los refugiados de guerra ucranianos. Por ejemplo, averigua cómo puedes proporcionar apoyo financiero a las organizaciones que prestan ayuda a las víctimas de la guerra en Ucrania. 

Y por último, les pedimos por favor que tengan  a la gente de Ucrania en vuestros pensamientos y oraciones.   

Una colega ucraniana ofreció a Mark Doel esta información que se transcribe a continuación: 

Si quieres apoyar a las iniciativas de ayuda en  Ucrania, hay tres organizaciones que han resistido la prueba del tiempo en este conflicto y que realmente han estado presentes ahí en las buenas y en las malas. Por favor, considere apoyar a una de ellas: 

• “Right to Protection”, es una organización ucraniana sin ánimo de lucro, con alcance nacional y un largo historial de ayuda a los afectados por el conflicto. Su sitio web y gran parte de la Internet ucraniana están caídos en este momento, pero puedes conectarte con ellos a través de LinkedIn. 
• El “Consejo Noruego para los Refugiados”, ( Norwegian Refugee Council ) es una de las mayores ONG internacionales sobre el terreno en los lugares más difíciles de alcanzar. 
• El Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja, que también trabaja con las sociedades nacionales locales de la Cruz Roja de forma imparcial y neutral para garantizar que todos los que necesitan ayuda en condiciones horribles la reciban.  

P.D. No envíes cosas, envía dinero, los cooperantes pueden comprar cosas si las necesitan o dar dinero en efectivo a los necesitados.

Nous assistons actuellement à des événements que nous ne pouvions imaginer auparavant. Le 24 février, le président russe, Poutine, a lancé une action militaire contre un État souverain et démocratique, l'Ukraine. Ce comportement despotique va à l'encontre des valeurs fondamentales représentées par les travailleurs sociaux et les travailleurs de groupe. Nous sommes à l’entame d'une crise humanitaire majeure, au cours de laquelle de nombreux civils sont blessés ou tués, d'autres encore perdent leur maison, et des milliers sont contraints de devenir des réfugiés.

Les soldats et civils ukrainiens sont en train de se battre héroïquement, tentant de repousser l'attaque de l'armée russe. Ils se battent non seulement pour leur pays, mais aussi pour leur foi en la démocratie. Ils ont besoin de notre soutien.

En tant que travailleurs et travailleuse de groupe, nous avons des connaissances et une expertise sur la façon de construire des communautés et de faire pression pour le changement et la justice sociale. Nous vous exhortons donc à vous unir et à faire pression sur les gouvernements de vos pays pour qu'ils imposent les sanctions les plus sévères au régime du président Poutine.

Les travailleurs sociaux et les travailleuses sociales ont également des connaissances et des compétences pour aider ceux qui sont confrontés à des crises et qui ont été traumatisés. Veuillez fournir tout le soutien que vous pouvez offrir aux réfugiés de guerre ukrainiens. Par exemple, découvrez comment vous pouvez apporter un soutien financier aux organisations d'aide aux victimes de la guerre en Ukraine.

Et enfin, veuillez garder les Ukrainiens dans vos pensées et vos prières.

Si vous voulez renforcer l’aide offerte à l’Ukraine, il y a trois organisations qui se sont illustrées dans le passé en résistant à l’épreuve du temps par rapport à ce genre de conflits ; elles ont fermement promis d'être là contre vents et marées. Veuillez envisager soutenir l'une d'entre elles:

• Right to Protection est une organisation ukrainienne à but non lucratif, avec une portée nationale et une longue histoire d'aide aux personnes touchées par les conflits. Leur site Web et une grande partie de l'Internet ukrainien semblent être en panne pour le moment, mais vous pouvez vous connecter avec eux via LinkedIn.
• Le Conseil norvégien pour les réfugiés est parmi les plus grandes ONG internationales sur le terrain dans les endroits les plus difficiles d'accès.

wir werden derzeit Zeugen_innen von Ereignissen, die wir für unvorstellbar hielten. Am 24. Februar 2022 hat der russische Präsident Putin eine Militäraktion in dem souveränen und demokratischen Staat Ukraine gestartet. Dieses despotische Verhalten steht im Widerspruch zu den Grundwerten, die Sozialarbeiter_innen und Social Groupworker_innen vertreten. Wir sind Zeugen_innen des Beginns einer großen humanitären Krise, in der viele Zivilisten_innen verletzt oder getötet werden und noch mehr Menschen ihre Häuser verlieren sowie Tausende gezwungen sind, zu Flüchtlingen zu werden.

Die ukrainischen Soldaten_innen und Zivilisten_innen kämpfen heldenhaft und versuchen, den Angriff der russischen Armee abzuwehren. Sie kämpfen nicht nur für ihr Land, sondern auch für ihren Glauben an die Demokratie. Sie brauchen unsere Unterstützung.

Als Social Groupworker_innen haben wir das Wissen und die Erfahrung, wie man Gemeinschaften aufbaut und sich für Veränderungen und soziale Gerechtigkeit einsetzt. Wir rufen Sie daher auf, sich zusammenzuschließen und Druck auf die Regierungen Ihrer Länder auszuüben, damit sie die schärfsten Sanktionen gegen das Regime von Präsident Putin verhängen.

Auch Sozialarbeiter_innen verfügen über das Wissen und die Fähigkeiten, um denjenigen zu helfen, die sich in einer Krise befinden und traumatisiert sind. Bitte unterstützen Sie die ukrainischen Kriegsflüchtlinge, wo immer Sie können. Informieren Sie sich zum Beispiel, wie Sie Organisationen, die Kriegsopfern in der Ukraine helfen, finanziell unterstützen können.

Und schließlich bitten wir Sie, die Menschen in der Ukraine in Ihren Gedanken und Gebeten zu begleiten.

Wenn Sie die Hilfsmaßnahmen in der Ukraine unterstützen möchten, gibt es drei Organisationen, die sich in diesem Konflikt bewährt haben und versprochen haben, durch dick und dünn da zu sein. Bitte ziehen Sie in Erwägung, eine von ihnen zu unterstützen:

У цей час ми є свідками подій, які, як ми сподівалися раніше, були немислимими. 24 лютого 2022 року президент Росії Путін розпочав військові дії у суверенній та демократичній державі Україна. Ця деспотична поведінка суперечить основним цінностям, які представляють групові та соціальні працівники. Ми є свідками початку серйозної гуманітарної кризи, коли багато цивільних осіб зазнали поранень або гинуть. Ще більше людей втрачають свої будинки і тисячі змушені ставати біженцями.

Українські солдати та мирні жителі героїчно борються і відбивають атаку російської армії. Вони захищають не лише свою країну, а й віру у демократію. Їм потрібна наша підтримка.

Як групові працівники ми маємо знання та досвід у створенні спільнот, впровадженні змін і підтримці соціальної справедливості. Тому ми закликаємо вас об'єднатися і чинити тиск на уряди ваших країн, щоб жорсткі санкції були запроваджені проти режиму президента Путіна.

Соціальні працівники також мають знання та навички, щоб допомогти постраждалим та травмованим. Будь ласка, надайте будь-яку можливу підтримку українцям, які рятуються від війни. Наприклад, дізнайтеся, як ви можете надати фінансову підтримку організаціям, що допомагають постраждалим в Україні. І, будь ласка, моліться за український народ.

“Якщо ви хочете підтримати зусилля щодо надання допомоги Україні, зверніть, увагу на три організації, які витримали випробування часом у цьому конфлікті та дійсно обіцяли бути там, незважаючи ні на що. Підтримайте одну з них:

• Right To Protection – українська некомерційна організація з національним охопленням та довгою історією допомоги постраждалим від конфлікту. Їхній веб-сайт і більшість українського Інтернету в даний час не працюють, але ви можете зв'язатися з ними через LinkedIn.
• Норвезька Рада у Справах Біженців - одна з найбільших міжнародних неурядових організацій, що працюють у важкодоступних місцях.
• Міжнародний Комітет Червоного Хреста, який також неупереджено і нейтрально працює з місцевими національними товариствами Червоного Хреста, щоб гарантувати, що всі, хто потребує допомоги, отримають її.
